RC Feeder Boat

Imagine the joy of riding a remote-controlled paddleboat in the waters when we were kids. Gokul, a hardware designer and a 3D printing enthusiast, gave it a small twist by adding a few features, making it both a fish feeder and a delivery system for bait. And also as a medicine delivery system to hard-to-reach water filled places. This project turns a simple idea into something much more useful, combining fun with practical features that solve real-world challenges.

This fish feeder is controlled by the Remote Control (RC) with the help of the ESP-NOW protocol, thus eliminating the need for a separate radio controller and reducing costs. Gokul claimed that, in an open space, he was able to control the boat within the range of about 200 meters. The boat’s movements are controlled with the help of a joystick, which he 3D printed, and it is powered by a rechargeable battery with a USB-C cable.

Using the SeeedStudio XIAO ESP32 and the DRV8833 motor driver module, along with a custom DIY remote control powered by an ESP32, this project provides a practical solution for fishing and cultivation. All instructions and code, as well as 3D printing instructions, are provided, along with a demo video. It would be great if it could be fully automated, offering a time saving solution for small-scale farmers in both catching and growing fish.
