Chhattisgarh is set to establish its first semiconductor manufacturing plant in Nava Raipur, led by Chennai-based Polymatech Electronics. The facility will focus on producing Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor chips, which are essential for enabling 5G and 6G technologies. The foundation stone will be laid on April 11 by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who will also conduct the inaugural Bhoomipujan ceremony. The project involves an investment of Rs 1143 crore and is expected to generate employment opportunities in the state.

The plant will be built on a 150000 square-feet area in Sector-5 of Nava Raipur, allotted by the Nava Raipur Development Authority through a tender process. This initiative stems from the 'Investor Connect' programme held in December last year in New Delhi during which the state government signed an investment invitation with Polymatech Electronics. The company has a global presence in the United States and Bahrain.

Highlighting the state’s preparation, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is ready to offer policy support, tax incentives, infrastructure and special facilities for semiconductor and electronics investments. This aligns with the Government of India’s broader efforts under the Make in India and Digital India campaigns to promote high-tech industries and reduce dependency on imports. According to Polymatech Electronics CEO Eswara Rao Nandam, the plant supports India’s goal of becoming self-reliant in semiconductor manufacturing with domestic demand projected to reach $64 billion by 2026.
