Fusion Chime Vision, A Smart Doorbell System

Fusion Chime Vision is an advanced open-source doorbell system built around the ESP32 microcontroller platform. It replaces a conventional chime with an interactive device that displays custom messages or images on its built-in screen and captures photo and audio clips when motion is detected. With real-time video streaming and two-way audio communication, it provides homeowners with personalized guest greetings and improved entryway monitoring. Integration with smart home platforms enables automated alerts and central visitor event management.

Fusion Chime Vision Doorbell

The main outdoor unit can be installed easily using existing doorbell wiring and a snap-fit mounting bracket, requiring no extra cables or batteries. Its weather-resistant enclosure includes a 2.4-inch TFT LCD with 240×320 resolution, an OV2640 camera and a PIR motion sensor. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi for web access, a 433 MHz RF module for wireless chime transmission and screw terminals for wall connection. The device displays status on connection strength, visitor detection, storage capacity and IP address. Captured images and audio clips are saved to 32 GB internal storage.

Indoors, the Chime unit plays custom doorbell sounds at a volume you set and shows status alerts in your home. The Display Panel has a touchscreen that shows live video and lets you talk to visitors without walking to the door. From the panel, you can change the bell sound, adjust speaker volume and unlock the door using its built-in 433 MHz signal. It also shows indoor and outdoor temperatures and real-time weather updates. The unit stays up to date over Wi-Fi with automatic firmware updates.

Fusion Chime Vision Smart Chime

Fusion Chime Vision runs on fully open-source firmware with OTA update support and works with Home Assistant and ESPHome. The outdoor ESP32-CAM module handles two-way audio and live video streaming, while the indoor units manage custom chimes and user interactions. All devices support USB-C programming and Wi-Fi setup. Powered by a standard 8 V-24 V AC transformer through existing doorbell wiring, the system runs continuously without batteries. Schematics and code will be published when shipping begins. The creator has released Fusion Chime Vision as an open-source project and welcomes community contributions of integrations, chime sounds and other features.
