Polymatech Electronics has announced the launch of its second semiconductor manufacturing plant in Atal Nagar-Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The announcement was made during the Chhattisgarh Investor Connect 2024 event held in New Delhi. This new facility will focus on producing Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor chips and advanced packaging for 5G and 6G telecom base stations. Supported by a 40% capital subsidy from the Chhattisgarh government, the project involves a significant investment of over ₹1,100 crore. This initiative is aimed at boosting India’s capabilities in the semiconductor and telecommunications sectors.
The plant will initially rely on outsourced chip fabrication until Polymatech’s foundry in Grenoble, France, becomes operational. With this facility, Polymatech intends to strengthen India’s position in the global semiconductor market. According to Eswara Rao Nandam, CEO and Managing Director of Polymatech Electronics, the project aligns with India’s vision of becoming self-reliant in high-tech manufacturing and advancing digital transformation, particularly in the telecom sector. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, highlighted the importance of such investments in strengthening the state’s manufacturing ecosystem. He credited the state’s proactive industrial policies for attracting these kinds of high-tech projects.
The facility is expected to significantly contribute to India’s progress in 5G and 6G technologies by enhancing next-generation telecom infrastructure. This project also positions Chhattisgarh as a hub for innovation in the semiconductor industry, supporting the country’s move towards self-reliance in advanced technologies. Polymatech operates in India, US and Bahrain, contributing significantly to the global semiconductor and electronics industry. The company serves various sectors including telecommunications, AI and healthcare, strengthening its position as a leader in advanced technology.
